A lot of key info shared here about an endangered language right here in UK! Very enlightening to hear about the challenges of intergenerational transmission both from the historical perspective, and how these challenges in that area unfold with the contemporary speakers, and the complex socio-political situation of the Channel islands.
My feeling is that these are definitely Islands at the crossroads, not just historically, geographically and politically, but right now, from a sociolinguistic perspective. Thanks, Julia for this great lecture and thanks, Adrian, for publishing it on Youtube.
