I think lot of the comments are missing the point (or at least one of them). Getting good arifacts. There isn't any universal way to get a good character. You can have a C6 R5 character, but you might wait years to get a specific piece. I have grinded the Emblem domain ever since it came out, and I'm yet to get a singe ER sands that has crit as a substat. Literally the only way to get good builds is getting lucky. It is only that. I have otherwise well invested characters, but I just don't have the artifacts I need.
Hmmm yummy High quality content creator who's F2P/Low spender focused :)
In my case, I really don’t care if I only did 33 stars. I’m just happy playing Genshin.
"The problem with F2P guides is their C6 four star characters and cracked artifacts"
F2PKeqing literally has been making Abyss guides with his AR 56 F2P account since Sumeru's release
I honestly had insane luck pulling for characters and rolling artefact.. I managed to 36* the abyss after roughly 5 or 6 months of playing.. I did buy battle pass and walken after the first month. I never thought people actually struggled..
Just a tip, generally it's not worth spending the extra mora and XP books to get a character. HP scaling characters (tao, yelan and nilou) are the exception to this, but typically for main damage dealers, after getting important talents to level 8 and the character to 80 ascended, it's more worthwhile to focus on getting good artifacts.
I think since starting the game (on and off since launch), I've got 6 EM pieces (5*)... Total! Regardless of which piece.
My goal.. Just build a character 'well enough' and leave it there. 😅 New characters freak me out! Farming for their leveling mats just makes me want to play less.
So I get it. Building new teams is such a massive chore. And I don't play everyday. I've taken to building Kiki and Nahida now.. I don't even have the weekly bosses unlocked for their talents 😂😂😂 cos I haven't played the story missions that unlock these things..
I just... Don't care.. But, might have to when I want to build further.
But... Mora farming too 😢 I hate it.
I think that the process of farming artifacts, building characters and stuff is the most fun part of the game, it can actually be pretty rewarding
Add: being an PC F2P is totally different of being mobile F2P...
I calculated it takes an average of 70 hours of play to get a 5-star as a F2P. 12 hours per 4-star.
This video is 100% true. Free 2 Play guides are only partially true. I am not free 2 play, I have dropped around $300 on this game over the past year and I still cannot clear the abyss floor 12. I also know my account is probably better than most free 2 play accounts that have played the game the same amount of time as me (1 year). The issue is not characters and weapons, the issue is artifacts and talent levels. In order to clear abyss with all 4 star units you would need extremely good artifacts on all 8 of your characters. This takes an insane amount of time, months and months of grinding just for those characters. Also most of the four star weapons these guides use aren't even free to play weapons. For example, let's say you just pulled a Yoimiya and look up a guide for her best free 2 play weapon. It is an R5 Rust..... If you don't have any copies of Rust, your odds will be better of pulling a R1 Thundering Pulse, than to get 5 copies of Rust.
Long story short. The Abyss is not F2P Friendly.
Bro stop wasting 50 primos on refill, use those primos to roll on the weapon banner from time to time, over time you will reach pity there and it will give you a permanent boost to your account if you get a good weapon, never waste primos on refills, that's whale territory.
I stopped playing for 6 months and actually managed to clear 4 floors less than I used to, and I've never been able to get 36 stars, I'm so bad at this game xD
this video serves really well for showing how dreadful IWTL is at making F2P guides.
i'm sorry but this is not a helpful video at all. first of all, you should definitely look up more than one guide, unfortunately you stumbled upon a channel most theorycrafters don't recommend. he's kinda just a whale and does not know what "reasonable" investment is. second of all, there is literally 0 reason to level everyones talents to 9/9/9. xinyan should maybe have like a little bit of talent investment, all bennett really wants is his burst leveled, xiangling needs her burst leveled and maybe some guoba leveling and heizou, sure, i suppose his talents are all pretty important but like, id say max 8/8/8 unless you really like him, talent levels will not matter as much as you think, especially cause heizou will be swirling.
i really hoped this video would be more like "hey f2p guides are unrealistic bc a lot of them use gacha 4 star weapons and characters that people may not necessarily have" and yeah resin is definitely a part of why the guides are frustrating but you literally watched ONE guide and generalized every single f2p guide. watch sevyplays for an actually good guide with very attainable investment.
On another note you’ve got my sub you are working hard for it I don’t usually sub but you seem to deserve it. Good luck with your content creation.
Just spend money… :)
Mobile gamer here, I have 2 f2p accounts, and I never thought the issue was with "paying to get characters easily" in the first place. This game consistently provides enough primogem sources to get a 5 star character every patch (you can either save for a bit or win your 50/50s LMAO) and being a low spender just helps you not spend hours milking every last bit of primogems available.
My main (started in 3.5) cleared abyss after 240 days active. Granted I went into this game completely blind and definitely had slow progress. I was able to do it with Ayaka and Yoimiya and ever since I got Raiden in 3.3 every abyss has been on easy mode with Ayaka freeze and rational. I also have Alhaitham now and while he is a bit more difficult to play, he's really fun so I'm not complaining lmao.
My alt is a standard banner only account after realizing that limited 5 stars made this game way too easy. That one cleared the abyss after 260 active days. I had a lot of fun building 4 star characters and I didn't hyperfixate on getting spiral abyss teams. Eventually did it with Sucrose national (c0 xiangling 😭) and Tighnari spread.
I will always say this, constellations on 4 stars matter more than 5 star characters sometimes. Any national team feels garbage to play before c4 Xiangling, and let me tell you, a new player isn't getting that anytime soon. And yes, artifacts matter quite a lot, especially in "f2p friendly" teams where you inherently need higher investment because you're only using 4 star characters.
Not to mention that Genshin guide content on Youtube is a VERY big rabbit hole of misinformation, especially with artifacts being rated with crit value instead of stat/roll value.
You could say that spiral abyss is just a playtime check but honestly, not being able to do proper rotations and dodge/position correctly often is the difference between getting 3 or 2 stars on a chamber. My first full clear on my alt had to save over a minute in 12-3-2 just to be able to get 3 stars (it was the triple spaced out eremite summoner abyss) and that took 4 HOURS of optimization, trial and error.
Rant over, TLDR, basically the abyss is playtime gated with a hint of proper gamesense requirements. You can't expect a blind playthrough player to quickly clear abyss especially with web/youtube guides being terrible and the abyss being everchanging and tailor made for the current banner 5 stars.
